Abstract

This rapid evidence review synthesises available evidence on the causes and consequences of air pollution in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). It draws on both academic and grey literature and identifies a growing but uneven evidence base. A key limitation of the literature is its geographical concentration, with the majority of studies on air pollution in the DRC having been conducted in Kinshasa (the capital of the DRC), and comparatively limited evidence available for other parts of the country. This geographic focus poses a challenge for generating an understanding of national patterns of exposure and impact.
