Abstract

<jats:p>Relevance. In the modern world, due to the growth of industrialization and an increase in wastewater disposal, the problem of treating wastewater contaminated with petroleum products is becoming increasingly important. Wastewater treatment is a complex and urgent task that requires an integrated approach. As a rule, the main stage is physico-chemical purification, in particular coagulation. Often, traditional reagents based on metal salts (aluminum, iron, etc.) are characterized by low efficiency due to their narrow operating pH range, which in its turn does not allow them to achieve the required standards, the use of some in several cases is economically unprofitable. In this regard, there is an urgent need to create and implement new technical solutions. Aim. To evaluate the effectiveness of using complex titanium-containing reagents for wastewater treatment of washing vehicles contaminated with petroleum products. Results and conclusions. It has been proven that the use of a complex sulfate-chloride coagulant at a dose of 75 mg/dm3 (in terms of the amount of Al2O3 and TiO2 oxides) demonstrates the greatest efficiency in removing suspended solids (98.4%), petroleum products (78.4%) and reducing chemical oxygen demand (34.5%) in comparison with both traditional aluminum and iron-containing coagulants, and aluminum sulfate modified by the hydrolysis products of titanium tetrachloride and titanyl sulfate in amounts from 1 to 7%. It was found that the use of complex sulfate-chloride coagulant significantly speeds up sedimentation of the resulting coagulation sludge and reduces its volume, which helps to reduce the load and increase the efficiency of the filtration equipment.
