Remote Real Estate Transactions Using Biometrics: From Digital Simplification to New Challenges

<jats:p>Based on the basic provisions of civil law, the author analyzes the problems of remote real estate agreements using qualified electronic signatures and biometric personal data. The risks of using biometrics when concluding contracts using digital intermediaries are considered. The necessity of developing new norms of the alienation of real estate in the context of digitalization is substantiated. It is concluded that it is advisable to create a legal mechanism for the protection of biometric personal data and to establish in law a mandatory notarial (qualified) form of agreements in the case of alienation of real estate.</jats:p>
