The Right to Defense: Participation of a Substitute Attorney in Criminal Pro-ceedings at the Modern Stage

<jats:p>The work is devoted to further research of the institute of “double protection” and introduction of backup lawyers into criminal proceedings, against the will of the person brought to criminal responsibility. Analyzing the current situation, it is concluded that at present the institute of “double protection”, associated with the introduction of a backup lawyer into criminal proceedings against the will of the person brought to criminal responsibility, has undergone significant changes and has largely lost its negative features.</jats:p>
