Legal Status of the Digital Ruble in the Russian Legal System: Relevant lssues and Prospects

<jats:p>The article is devoted to the legal status of the digital ruble in the Russian legislative system and related issues: industry affiliation, legal regime of circulation, and contractual structure of the digital ruble account. The relevance of this topic is due to the relatively rapid transition from theoretical discussion to the normative consolidation of the digital form of the Russian currency, while a number of unresolved issues at the intersection of financial, banking, and civil law remain. This paper examines the characteristics of the digital ruble as an object of legal regulation, a means of payment, and an element of publicly organized payment infrastructure. It describes its place in the system of civil rights, its relationship with digital currency, and the specifics of the existing legal regime. It identifies problematic issues in the legal identification of the digital ruble and outlines key areas for further legislative development in this area. The specifics of the subject composition of legal relations within the Bank of Russia platform are analyzed, and ways to improve their legal regulation are considered.</jats:p>
