<jats:p>The article analyzes the criminal and legal significance of the athlete's medical admission to participate in competitions and the training process. The author notes the special nature of physical culture and sports, associated with a high risk of injury. The paper raises the question of the legal status of a sports medicine doctor and the possibility of bringing such a person to criminal responsibility in cases where admission is given to an athlete who has contraindications to sports. The doctrinal positions are analyzed. The author's criminal-legal qualification of the doctor's actions is proposed.</jats:p>
