<jats:p>Currently, characterized by the aggravation of the systemic crisis of the monopolar world model, the intensification of international confrontation and, largely as a result, the need to preserve Russia's national sovereignty, the inevitability of a radical revision of strategic guidelines and priorities of state foreign and domestic policy is becoming obvious. A special problem that requires priority attention is the search for reliable and strong strategic partners. In this context, first of all, BRICS should be considered as an international instrument of political, economic, scientific, educational and technological cooperation. This article aims to identify trends and conditions for innovative development in the BRICS countries in the context of their strategic cooperation with Russia. The subject of the study is the national innovation policy of the BRICS countries. The aim of the work is to identify trends and conditions of innovative development in the BRICS countries in the context of their strategic cooperation with Russia. The BRICS countries were considered as strategic partners of Russia in the context of the formation of a multipolar world model against the background of the intensification of international confrontation. Given that the work is primarily theoretical in nature, the research methods used by the authors include analysis, synthesis, abstraction, generalization, systematization, extrapolation, modeling and forecasting. A significant part of the study is the analysis of open sources that reveal the essence of the strategic guidelines of the national innovation policy of the BRICS countries. The results of the study are the identification and substantiation of trends in the strategic development of the national innovation policy of the BRICS countries.</jats:p>
