Abstract

<p>Teacher performancein addition to reflecting teacher professionalism, also greatly determines the future of students. To support teacher performance, at least three components are needed to make schools a learning organization. They are transformative leadership, an inclusive work environment, and a progressive learning process, which are firmly embedded in teacher motivation, making teaching not just a routine but a mobilization of all abilities in the form of innovative work behavior to participate in organizing quality learning. The study examines the moderating effect of innovative work behavior on the relationship between work motivation and participation, and its influence on teacher performance. It is hypothesized that work motivation, participation, and innovative work behavior positively affect teacher performance, and that innovative work behavior moderates the relationship between motivation and participation. The study employs a quantitative approach with an ex post facto design. Data were collected from 317 junior high school teachers in Temanggung Regency, Indonesia, through proportional random sampling techniques. The Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) technique was applied to analyze the relationship between variables. The results of the study indicate that transformative principal leadership has been proven to strengthen work motivation, encourage participation, and increase teachers&rsquo; innovative work behavior. Strengthening work motivation can be achieved by improving teacher morale, acknowledging teacher performance, creating a conducive work environment, and presenting awards &mdash; both financial and non-financial &mdash; to teachers who excel and are dedicated to student success and school progress. Increasing participation can be achieved by involving teachers in formulating school policies, developing school curricula and activities, fostering an inclusive and collaborative culture, and providing opportunities for teachers to take the initiative. Coaching and promoting innovative work behavior can be achieved by creating an adaptive and creative learning environment that encourages a progressive learning process, fostering various innovations and new ideas in learning.</p>
