Development of a device to prevent ferroresonance phenomena in 6–10 kV isolated-neutral networks

<jats:p>Occurrence of ferroresonance is one of the dangerous mode characteristics of isolated-neutral networks. Various manufacturers have developed numerous methods to prevent this type of process, but the choice of a specific solution in each individual case remains a pressing issue due to the inherent drawbacks of each solution. Consequently, there is a need to develop a device that is considered as a universal and affordable measure to prevent ferroresonance phenomena in isolated-neutral networks. The study has been conducted using the physical modeling method based on a test-bed for modeling the operation a 6–10 kV network. The advantages and disadvantages of existing solutions to prevent the development of ferroresonances in isolated-neutral networks have been investigated. The device to prevent ferroresonance phenomena in 6–10 kV networks developed under order of NTZ Volkhov LLC, has been studied. Experimental oscillograms have been obtained confirming the effectiveness of the proposed solution. Proposed device makes it possible to effectively prevent flow of ferroresonance in 6–10 kV isolated-neutral networks. In the proposed solution, a number of drawbacks characteristic of currently existing analogues have been eliminated.</jats:p>
