Abstract
<jats:p>The monograph provides insight in what learning strategies are and how to help students expand their learning strategies. Russian linguadidactics considers the ability to learn as one of the most important goals of language teaching. This concept includes the ability to perform particular learning actions, the ability to work with various supports (visual, auditory, etc.), and the ability to organize one’s learning activities in general. The author treats the ability to use learning strategies as a competence. The monograph provides definitions and classifications of learning strategies and suggests a model of their systematic and explicit instruction. The author describes methodological framework for diagnosing learning strategies; proposes the structure of strategic competence and a model of developing this competence. The book is intended for educators engaged in research in the field of strategic linguadidactics, students of philology – future teachers of Russian as a foreign language, Phd students, as well as those who are interested in effective ways of learning a foreign language and learning strategies’ instruction.</jats:p>
