Abstract

The modern, quite organic, influential and noticeable process of decolonization, which has become mainstream under the influence of rashist terror and is developing both at the grassroots level and in the intellectual sphere, is quite often interpreted in the West through the construct of “cancel culture”. At the same time, behind the scenes of reasoning remains a colonial discourse, without the involvement of which it is simply impossible to build an adequate analytical construction. The situation of suppression (“cancellation”) of Russian culture by Ukrainian is born, in fact, in the virtual distilled world of an alternative reality, where there are equal and equally capable cultural phenomena, none of which is the product of centuries-old application of the practices of “cancellation of culture” as the usual norm of the empire’s activity in relation to the colony. The transformation of the Russian Federation’s policy towards Ukraine, the evolution of the “Ukrainian question” in the context of the revival of imperial resentment and the transformation of Russia into a totalitarian system in which the destruction of Ukraine becomes a fixed idea. Recommendations are provided for including the issue in the educational sphere and the public administration system.
