Abstract

<jats:p>We demonstrate the stabilization of mid-infrared (MIR) sub-cycle pulses generated via two-color laser filamentation using a DC electric field. By applying high positive voltage through a Rogowski electrode, MIR pulse intensity instability dropped from ~3.5% to ~1.3%, and vertical beam spread narrowed from ~0.020 to ~0.005 mrad. This stabilization transferred to upconverted pulses, halving spectral instability during four-wave difference frequency upconversion (~6.0% to ~3.0%) and reducing sum frequency instability from ~13.8% to ~7.7%. Ultimately, these stabilized pulses produced MIR hyperspectral images with significantly enhanced quality due to strongly suppressed fluctuations.</jats:p>
