Vittoria Colonna et Marguerite de Navarre : autour des Quatre dialogues sur la peinture de Francisco de Holanda

<jats:p>Vittoria Colonna and Marguerite de Navarre: On the Four Dialogues on Painting by Francisco de Holanda Abstract : The purpose of the article is to draw a parallel between two Renaissance works: Diálogos de Roma by Francisco de Holanda and Heptaméron by Marguerite de Navarre. Although seemingly very different in terms of language, subject, genre, and even their renown, they share certain similar elements. The depiction of a storytelling community, the value placed on debates, and especially the importance of the spiritual direction exercised by women suggest a common inspiration. The connections between Marguerite de Navarre and Vittoria Colonna, a central figure in Holanda’s work, as well as their friendship rooted in intellectual and religious concerns, make the comparison of the two works plausible and highlight the importance of the historical and literary context in which they were created.
