Abstract
<jats:p>The author examines the creation and development of public spaces in a modern city in two aspects: theoretical and practical. Special attention is paid to the principles of designing spaces for parks, pedestrian streets, and multifunctional public areas, taking into account the needs of various groups of the population. The article analyzes domestic and foreign experience, modern trends in urban planning, urbanism, landscape architecture, sustainable development planning, inclusivity and identity of public spaces. The textbook is intended for students, postgraduates and teachers of architectural, urban planning and construction areas, and may also be useful for specialists in the field of territorial planning and municipal management.</jats:p>
