Dress codes of key texts of Russian culture

<jats:p>The monograph examines the ways in which characters' clothes are represented in such key texts of Russian classics as Leo Tolstoy's novel Anna Karenina and Fyodor Dostoevsky's novel The Idiot, as well as what information the authors encode when describing wardrobe items. It is suggested that the dress codes in the texts are different, and these differences take on a more striking character when considering works translated into English. This allows us to talk about dress codes that have passed through the "magic crystal" of translation, as a result of which they received a variant other than the author's one. Much attention in the information field of the monograph is paid to the ways of representing the color of clothes and accessories in the texts of the authors and in the texts of translations. It is intended for specialists in the field of theory and practice of translation and cultural studies, as well as students studying Russian as a foreign language, and graduate students conducting research in these areas.</jats:p>
