Abstract
<jats:p>The authors of the monograph focus on the long and complex process of evolution of provincial historical knowledge. In particular, it examines how knowledge about the past of the Urals and Trans—Urals was accumulated in pre-revolutionary historiography, how historical knowledge about the history of the region became an integral part of Russian historical science, and provides information about the life and work of Russian historians who lived at different times, but united by the study of the history of the Urals and Trans-Urals XII - early XX century. It is addressed to students, undergraduates, and postgraduates studying the history of Russian historical science, the history and historiography of the Urals and Trans-Urals, history teachers, and local historians.</jats:p>
