Abstract
A search is performed for the electroweak pair production of charginos and associated production of a chargino and neutralino, each of which decays through an <a:math xmlns:a="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"> <a:mi>R</a:mi> </a:math> -parity-violating coupling into a lepton and a <c:math xmlns:c="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"> <c:mi>W</c:mi> </c:math> , <e:math xmlns:e="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"> <e:mi>Z</e:mi> </e:math> , or Higgs boson. This search targets the Higgs boson decay channel of the charginos and neutralinos, using events with three or more <g:math xmlns:g="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"> <g:mi>b</g:mi> </g:math> -tagged jets and one or two electrons or muons. The analyzed data corresponds to an integrated luminosity of <i:math xmlns:i="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"> <i:mrow> <i:mn>140</i:mn> <i:mtext> </i:mtext> <i:mtext> </i:mtext> <i:msup> <i:mrow> <i:mi>fb</i:mi> </i:mrow> <i:mrow> <i:mo>−</i:mo> <i:mn>1</i:mn> </i:mrow> </i:msup> </i:mrow> </i:math> and <k:math xmlns:k="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"> <k:mn>56</k:mn> <k:mtext> </k:mtext> <k:mtext> </k:mtext> <k:msup> <k:mi>fb</k:mi> <k:mrow> <k:mo>−</k:mo> <k:mn>1</k:mn> </k:mrow> </k:msup> </k:math> of proton-proton collision data produced by the Large Hadron Collider at center-of-mass energies of <m:math xmlns:m="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"> <m:msqrt> <m:mi>s</m:mi> </m:msqrt> <m:mo>=</m:mo> <m:mn>13</m:mn> <m:mtext> </m:mtext> <m:mtext> </m:mtext> <m:mi>TeV</m:mi> </m:math> and <o:math xmlns:o="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"> <o:msqrt> <o:mi>s</o:mi> </o:msqrt> <o:mo>=</o:mo> <o:mn>13.6</o:mn> <o:mtext> </o:mtext> <o:mtext> </o:mtext> <o:mi>TeV</o:mi> </o:math> , respectively, collected by the ATLAS experiment between 2015 and 2023. The data are found to be consistent with predictions from the Standard Model. The results are interpreted as limits at 95% confidence level on model-independent cross sections for processes beyond the Standard Model. Limits are also set on the production of charginos and neutralinos for a minimal supersymmetric Standard Model with an additional <q:math xmlns:q="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"> <q:mi>B</q:mi> <q:mo>−</q:mo> <q:mi>L</q:mi> </q:math> gauge symmetry that is spontaneously broken. Charginos and neutralinos with masses between 150 GeV and 1100 GeV are excluded at 95% confidence level for a scenario in which they decay via Higgs bosons, assuming equal decay branching fractions to each lepton flavor. Additional limits on chargino and neutralino production are derived for flavor-specific decay scenarios where the charginos decay into a single lepton flavor.
