Score Study in 2

<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title> <jats:p>Like Chapter 5, Chapter 8 focuses on score study through phrasal analysis and larger formal structure. By accounting for every bar of the Overture to Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro, the chapter offers the reader a system to memorize the score. Emphasis is placed on starting the ensemble in a fast tempo while playing softly, as well as when one conducts in one or two beats a bar. Links to scores are provided, including a link to the holograph of the manuscript. There is a detailed discussion of how to conduct the piece, with special care placed on subito dynamic effects and intricacies of ensemble playing.</jats:p>
