More on Changing Tempo

<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title> <jats:p>The author demonstrates for the reader techniques for making accelerando and ritardando through use of inner subdivision and physical gesture, including circles and use of horizontal space, as well as advanced exercises in tapping as used in previous chapters to establish tempo change. Examples from Beethoven, Brahms, and Debussy are emphasized. The reader is challenged to identify works at specific metronome markings, beginning the process of developing internal sense of tempo. Questions are asked about conducting and score reading problems. A list of notable works including accelerandos and ritardandos is included for reference and study.</jats:p>
