DeQuervain Tenosynovitis

<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title> <jats:p>DeQuervain tenosynovitis (DQT) is an injury to the radial styloid involving stenosing tenosynovitis and presenting as pain at the base of the thumb. Although prevalence of DQT in the general population is low (1.3% female), pregnant individuals experience wrist pain consistent with postpartum DQT 2.1% of the time. Pain typically develops in the third trimester and first 6 months of lactation and lasts around 5 months. Female sex, black race, age greater than 40 years, personal history of thyroid disorders, and rheumatoid arthritis were risk factors for postpartum DQT. Primiparity increased the risk of postpartum DQT by more than double. Postpartum DQT is self-limiting and often resolves with discontinuation of breastfeeding.</jats:p>
