Abstract

Abstract
This volume aims to bring the voice of Sulpicia, one of the very few female poets of ancient Rome, to the foreground of public awareness by acknowledging her as the author of part of Corpus Tibullianum 3, appreciating the artistry of her work in terms of both poetic technique and engagement with previous literature, and highlighting the pointedly feminine features of her poetry. The ten pieces, by a number of respected authors, included in this close-knit collection together examine the whole literary production of Sulpicia, and shed light on her role as a female artist by contributing different perspectives and approaches.
