Abstract
<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title> <jats:p>The Oxford Handbook of Digital Classical Studies approaches classical studies, archaeology, and philology as a unified field, and presents state-of-the-art, concise overviews of the various digital tools, methods, and approaches that are in use in academia, research, pedagogy and heritage. It places these tools and approaches within a theoretical framework that examines their impact on the material and digital world critically and advocates for ethical practices in the production and management of data. The handbook is divided into five sections that present this critical framework and broad ethical considerations (Section I: Introduction); the historiography of the field and the impact that the digital turn has had on classical studies (Section II: Contexts); the importance of digitization and data management issues for the study of classics (Section III: Data); concise and up-to-date introductions to new digital methods and approaches (Section IV: Methods); and a selection of case studies that exemplify how these can be used in various sectors and serve as a source of inspiration for readers (Section V: Case Studies). The handbook is an invaluable tool for undergraduate students as well as scholars from traditional fields in classical studies that are beginning their engagement with digital humanities or are interested in developments in fields other than their own.</jats:p>
