Beyond Borders

<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title> <jats:p>This chapter describes how migration and human rights clinics offer a unique opportunity to challenge global systems of injustice and, in doing so, enhance the skills and broaden the perspectives of law students. It explores the ways in which this is done by clinics from across the globe, comparing the geopolitical context and the legal frameworks they each work within. The chapter aims to illuminate the opportunities for these clinics to develop interdisciplinary, trauma-informed practice that works effectively across cultures and can critique the gendered nature of the refugee experience. It argues that reflective practice is a crucial skill for law students to make sense of migration and human rights practice, enabling them to engage critically with its highly political dynamics, which can undermine justice and profoundly affect clients and their families.</jats:p>
