<jats:title>Abstract</jats:title> <jats:p>This volume offers a multifaceted, interdisciplinary exploration of the biology of music. It approaches musicality as a biologically grounded, culturally inflected human capacity. Bridging sciences, arts, and humanities, the book brings together experts from ethology, genetics, evolutionary biology, developmental psychology, anthropology, neurobiology, cognitive (neuro)science, artificial intelligence, music composition, and musicology. The aim is not to unify perspectives under a single explanatory framework, but to highlight how diverse biological disciplines can inform and enrich music research, especially when working collaboratively across disciplines. Structured in three sections (on musicality in development, across species and in-silico; the paleoanthropology and bio-cultural evolution of musicality; and hypotheses and models for its emergence), the volume discusses topics such as musical universals, musicking across species, ontogenetic development, systems evolution, evo-devo modeling, and the coevolution of music and other biocognitive traits. Contributions aim at balancing rigor with accessibility, making the book suitable for researchers, graduate students, and upper-level undergraduates from a wide range of fields. As a timely synthesis, this work responds to growing calls for interdisciplinary work that requires a biologically informed musicology and a culturally literate biomusicology.</jats:p>
