Abstract

Abstract
The arts and humanities have much to contribute to our individual and collective flourishing. That contribution, however, is often more a matter of individual experience than academic scholarship. This book explores the question: What can the humanities disciplines contribute to the conceptualization and cultivation of human flourishing? Edited by James O. Pawelski, founding director of the Humanities and Human Flourishing Project at the University of Pennsylvania, this book is the capstone of a nine-volume series and includes contributions from thought leaders across eight different fields in the humanities (philosophy, history, literary studies, religious studies, theater, film and media, music, and the visual arts) that consider how and to what extent their respective disciplines engage with, understand, and advance human flourishing.
