<jats:p>This chapter overviews aspects of qualitative and semi-quantitative analysis by XRF from the perspective of paintings and pigment analysis. We review concepts of peak identification, measurement optimizations, data normalizations, and the advantages and limitations of using XRF for the analysis of compositionally heterogenous materials.</jats:p>
