Marine Pollution

<jats:p>Marine pollution, or the disruption to the natural ecology, particularly of the earth's oceans but also of related water systems, is an increasingly serious and potentially catastrophic problem in the Anthropocene epoch. Some of the human dimensions include issues that can be thought of broadly as tragedy of the commons, exacerbated by a mismatch between a truly global problem, and levels of governance organized around collectives with competing interests, including nation‐states. Cultural processes, and particularly cultural lag, are crucial, and norms and practices from prior times prove increasingly inadequate to engage this rapidly worsening problem.</jats:p>
