Abstract
A nutrition and dietetic diagnosis (NDD) provides a framework, which allows for the effective care and treatment of patients. Writing an NDD involves translating detailed assessment data into clear and concise diagnostic statements that guide the development of individualised care plans. The BDA Model and Process encourages dietitians to formulate NDDs using a PASS statement, written in the format: (Problem) related to (Aetiology) as evidenced by (Signs and Symptoms). In a therapeutic group setting, each individual within the group will have their own NDD, addressing their specific needs based on individual assessments. In contrast, for a public health group, the NDD step aligns with assessing a health priority for action on a collective level. This approach aims to address shared nutritional issues that affect the group as a whole, based on common factors contributing to the health problem.
