Abstract
<jats:p>This chapter focuses on the public health systems in the United Kingdom including England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Public Health Nutrition and Dietetics is abroad field of practice that encompasses the assessment, promotion, protection and enhancement of health and prevention of nutrition‐related diseases. The chapter describes commonly used ways of working in public health that fit with the Model and Process for Nutrition and Dietetic Practice. Assessment supports the development of successful strategies and decreases the chance of inappropriate or ineffective actions. The information gathered from the assessment is used to identify the nutritional or health needs. Review can be assessed against progress in achieving the aim and objectives, and by problem‐solving any unforeseen or inherent difficulties. It is essential that the evaluation is planned from the beginning. Sharing results is essential for: developing the evidence base; informing future practice, and inspiring colleagues and peers.</jats:p>
