Mechanisms of Change in Lexical Semantics

<jats:p>This chapter describes mechanisms of change in lexical semantics from three perspectives. First, it discusses features of changes in meaning (semasiological perspective). Next, it discusses changes in form (lexical change from an onomasiological perspective). Finally, it ties both types of mechanisms together in a case study in which semasiological and onomasiological change interact.</jats:p>
