Abstract

Exploration of memorial stelae is an important issue in burial archaeology. Our understanding of funeral rites would be incomplete if lacking data on funerary constructions. Funerary sculptures are a part of external constructions of a sepulchral complex. Burial chamber is usually considered as a symbol of the underworld, burial mound – as a symbol of the earth, and funerary sculpture – as a symbol of the heaven.
