Abstract

<jats:p>The presented monograph examines the entire range of issues related to the conceptual framework of such an institution as forensic examination, with its theoretical aspects, and the possibilities of modern use of information technologies in the study of objects of forensic examinations. The first chapter "Scientific and methodological foundations of forensic examination" is devoted to the stages of the formation of the general theory of forensic examination, forensic expertise as a science, its place in the system of scientific knowledge is determined, tasks, methods, techniques and methodology at the present stage, the theory of diagnosis and identification are considered, special attention is paid to the integration and differentiation of knowledge contributing to the conduct of judicial expertise at a higher quality level. The second chapter, "Information technologies in forensic expertise and in the production of forensic examinations," discusses topical issues of using the capabilities of modern information technologies in the production of forensic examinations. The possibilities of using 3D technologies in the production of forensic examinations, the features of using the ExpertLab desktop application in tracological examinations are considered in detail. This application was developed by the authors of the book (I.O. Nesmiyanova and O.A. Kharlamova), as evidenced by the corresponding certificate of state registration of the computer program. In addition, the problems of methodological support for forensic examinations in the light of digitalization processes and the use of innovative technologies in their production are considered. In the third chapter, "Organizational and methodological features of the appointment and conduct of forensic examinations at the current level of their development. Expert errors" examines in detail the psychological features of the interaction of procedural subjects in the appointment and conduct of forensic examinations. The problem of preventive expert activity aimed at preventing crimes and offenses, which is relatively little considered in modern criminological literature, has been studied. It is intended for students, postgraduates and students of all forms of higher education; in addition, it will be useful for practical staff on the appointment and production of forensic examinations in the light of the development of information technology.</jats:p>
