Abstract

Abstract
Decision Making: A Very Short Introduction examines how individuals navigate choices ranging from simple routines to complex strategic problems by analysing how they interpret information and manage uncertainty. It explores how psychology, economics, neuroscience, and artificial intelligence illuminate the processes that shape judgment and behaviour. This VSI explains how people learn from experience, rely on cognitive shortcuts, and sometimes commit systematic errors that undermine sound decisions. It demonstrates how underlying mental mechanisms guide choices while revealing the biases that distort rational evaluation. Finally, it offers a concise framework that sharpens awareness and enhances decision-making across diverse contexts.
